MORE help is available to those furthering their studies in accounting science via Unisa licensee Boston City Campus and Business College this year.
Besides providing full-time classes at the Bedfordview campus, Boston will be offering after-hours lectures to its students at both its Bedfordview and Pretoria campuses. It will also provide DVD recordings of live lectures to those who can’t attend.
“Students who live lectures due to time and budget constraints will this year be able to take a lecturer home to study, so to speak,” says Evy Panagopoulos of Boston City Campus and Business College.
Once they’ve registered, students doing BCompt Hons, the CTA programme and the post-graduate diploma in accounting science can order the DVD’s that we have compiled specially for them and watch them in their own time on their computers.”
The DVD’s are module driven and include question and solution sessions. They also help with exam techniques. Extra notes are also included in the packages.
“Though they can order DVDs individually at any time during the course of the year, we suggest that students get their DVDs way before their assignments are due and test season starts,” advises Panagopoulos. “Furthermore, all accounting students – whether they attend live lectures or use the DVDs – can tap into a Boston Honours website dedicated to accounting studies.
There they can tap into a discussion forum, ask lectures questions, benefit from questions asked by other students and carry out self-assessments to find out whether they’ve mastered the work covered.
“Studying in isolation can be truly challenging and we’d like to give these accounting students the entire assistant they need to ensure they pass with flying colours,” says Panagopoulos.
Students who’d like to attend live lectures throughout the year are requested to register before March. The lectures have been scheduled provisionally for 5:30pm from Monday to Thursdays
