Nowadays music is serious business and offers great career opportunities. The youth know this and it is time that their parents take notice of this fact as well, says Janine Pedro of Boston City Campus & Business College. As the exclusive licensee of Soul Candi Institute of Music, Boston offers courses in digital music composition & production and on dejaying. “Parents are familiar with music careers like songwriters, singers and music bands, but it seems they are not aware that big brands have entered the music space and are investing big money in music,” Pedro points out. “Think about it, commercials on TV and radio use music; the gaming industry uses music; the mobile telephone industry uses music; corporate videos use music; shopping centres have music, all types of events including conservative black-tie events use music. Many international companies use music to build their brands and grow sales, especially among the youth. It follows that there are jobs for people who want to be involved in playing, producing and selling music – and these are real jobs that pay real money.”
To gain entry to these music jobs and career opportunities, you need to get the appropriate training and relevant experience, as is the case with any other career choice. For those interested in digital music, Boston City Campus & Business College offers the Soul Candi 10-month learning programme in digital music composition and production.
